WE-CARE LIBRARY
Located in Central Monrovia, the WE-CARE Library began during the heat of the Liberian Civil War in 1992 and was formally established in 1995. It is one of the few libraries in Liberia that remains free to the public, offering a wide range of resources including books, magazines, newspapers, computers, internet access, and a children’s room.
Impact & Reach
In 2018 alone, more than 12,000 people accessed the library’s resources, averaging 40 visitors per day. WE-CARE has also established libraries and reading rooms in schools and distributed free books to educational institutions through the Reading Liberia program.
Community Libraries
The initiative has expanded beyond Monrovia, with community-based libraries located in Kakata and King Town Community along the Suakoko Highway. These libraries provide essential resources to areas where educational materials are scarce.
